News for 1/29

Happy February! ISPs are in full swing, students are learning a lot, and we are having fun all the while. We are looking forward to another great month and watching everyone grow in their knowledge!

Math:
3rd Grade-
Third grade continued our geometry unit this week. We talked about identifying triangles. We are using the terminology of acute, right, obtuse, isosceles, equilateral, and scalene. The students have done a great job solidifying their knowledge and showing what they know.

4th Grade-
4th graders wrapped up our measurement unit this week. We explored converting units of time and money, and reviewed converting length, weight and capacity. Students rooms DCA today.

5th Grade-
We worked on our financial adventure project this week. Students have chosen a career and salary, and have been busy making a life for themselves. They have explored buying cars, renting apartments, furnishing a home, paying bills and more! It’s been a fun and eye opening week!

ELA Enrichment & ISP:

1st Grade-
We started our ISP this week! Students visited the library and learned a little about research. We also started a digital scavenger hunt using our library online resources.

2nd Grade-
Second grade got to pay a visit to the library this week to learn about topic ideas and research resources. They began looking for books that were available on their ideas. We are starting to narrow down our topics and are looking forward to beginning our research!

3rd Grade-
Third grade visited the library this week to hear a presentation from Mrs. Bamford. She talked with us about narrowing research topics and creditable resources. It was a very interesting lesson!

4th Grade-
Fourth grade is beginning to work on narrowing down their ISP research topics. We had a presentation from Mrs. Bamford in the library to talk about topics and resources.

5th Grade-
Fifth grade had a lesson in the library this week with Mrs. Bamford. She discussed narrowing topic ideas and how to identify a creditable resource. The students came away with some great new places to look for information.
